Introduction

The Tesla Inc. corporation. (TSLA) is an American manufacturer of electric and clean energy vehicles, based in Palo Alto, California. The company was founded in July 2003 as Tesla Motors, by engineers Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning.

Since acquiring SolarCity in 2016, Tesla has also developed products for battery energy storage, home and grid applications, including solar panels and roof tiles.

The CEO of Tesla is South African-born businessman Elon Musk, who was the co-founder of PayPal (PYPL), a payment services company. Musk also founded and served as CEO of SpaceX, which manufactures the spacecraft.

Musk said he sees Tesla as an “independent technology and car manufacturing company, ultimately offering affordable electric cars to the average consumer”.

Tesla Stock Price

TSLA’s share price, like any listed company, is directly related to the company’s quarterly and annual earnings, reflecting demand for its products.

Policies designed to combat climate change are another important factor in Tesla’s share price. Many regions have begun subsidizing electric vehicles and clean energy companies at a time when the oil industry is facing increased regulation.

All of this creates a welcoming background for Tesla, but sudden policy changes can be detrimental.

Looking at today’s Tesla stock price, the entire stock is out of reach for most people. However, in Cryptivest, you do not have to buy all TSLA stock units. Like cryptocurrencies, you can buy fractions of shares starting at $ 1.00 – and you can still receive a proportional dividend income.

Tesla stock prices are ultimately determined by the laws of the market: supply and demand. The trader places Ask (sell) and Bid (buy) orders, and the result, through the process of matching orders in the Exchange order book, is the current TSLA price. So it is not surprising that prices continue to move during market hours.

What the bears say

  • Tesla is not profitable: Tesla has not made an annual profit for a long time, with a handful of profitable periods over a decade. The company has a tendency to over-promise and under-deliver.
  • More established automakers will win in the long run: While Tesla is a pioneer in electric vehicles, other car brands have more pockets, bigger R&D departments and better distribution.
  • The company relies heavily on Elon Musk: Tesla’s CEO is outspoken, aggressive and risk-taking, all of which can deter potential investors.

What the bulls say

  • Tesla has first-mover advantage: The company was solely responsible for the electric-car revolution. Its competitors are still trying to catch-up.
  • Elon Musk is a visionary genius: Musk often draws comparisons to the late Steve Jobs of Apple, or even engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla, the eponymous inspiration of the brand name.
  • Tesla is not just an automaker: Tesla combines many technologies from Lithium batteries to solar panels. The company may soon evolve into a full-service transport company supported by an electric grid and self-driving vehicles.
